Hi Blue,

They really dealt the punishment out to them at such a young age back then, don't think age really had a bearing on it.

Have to go to work now, happy hunting.

Are you getting the white error page....... it wouldn't be GR without it lately.... LOL!!

Hi Dee,
sorry for delay in reply, something weird has been happening with Genes this morning!

Thank you so much for clearing this up for me. So he arrived Sydney.
I've had no end of trouble trying to locate him after 1841 in Australia. Now have an area to search.

He was so young to be transported wasn't he,and also to have tatoo!

Hi Blue,

think this settles it;

New South Wales, Australia, Gaol Description and Entrance Books, 1818-1930
about Thomas E Chandler
Name: Thomas E Chandler
Birth Year: 1818
Age: 14
Immigration Date: 1834
Vessel Arrived In: Surry
Date of Admission/Photo: 1832
Gaol: Sydney
Gaol Location: Sydney, New South Wales
Record Type: Description Book

It states that he has a woman on lower right arm and a scar on lower left wrist.

I think the details on the Freedom Cert refer to this..... also noted he has a blue band on his 3rd finger on this cert.

HI,
I have downloaded the certificate of freedom for my ancestor from Ancestry but am having trouble making out every thing on it.
On the edge of the page I think it says Melbourne? but not sure. Also there is a statement from a "Woman" Whom I think is disputing the colour of my ancestor's eyes!

Could some one please have a look for me.
I can send the image if needed or it can be found

New South Wales, Australia, Certificates of Freedom, 1827-1867
about Thomas Emmerson Chandler
Name: Thomas Emmerson Chandler
Birth Year: 1815
Native Place: Cambridgeshire, England
Vessel: Surrey

I have looked for convict colony's in Melbourne but can't find one,so he may have settled there from somewhere else.

Thank you
Blue
