What a great website, thank you. It didn't have my exact match, but there are rich pickings there for future delving. Thanks again.

Joe

you might be able to find James and Emily's certificate on the following site, and then download.

The url for the actual site is very long .......... I'm giving you the route to get to it, but suggest that you then put it into your Favourites.

go to

www.familysearch.org/

scroll down until you see names of continents

Click on Europe

scroll down to England, Lancashire – Cheshire – Yorkshire Parish Registers, 1603-1992

click on it

click on Browse through 157,240 images

click on Lancashire

find Prestwich

save that page in your Favourites!

There is no index, so you have to look through the Parish Register page by page.

www.familysearch.org/ is also a good site to look for baptisms and marriages before 1837

Hi Annie

No, :-) of course not, I just couldn't find a marriage for JAmes Phillips senior to Emily Phillips his wife ( nee Budd ).

Ah, I see you found the Prestwich one above....which must be the one!

Great, thank you!

did they have any children after 1911? if so the mmn is shown on the index, You could always buy the birth cert for James b circa 1910

Its always possible that her mum had been married more than once so Emily's maiden name may not have been Budd,

Have you found them on previous census's?

I have found my great grandfather (grandmother's father) James Phillips in the 1911 census living with his wife Emily and mother -in-law Annie Budd, and son James aged 10 mths old in Manchester.

I know my great grandmother's surname was Budd and I have done a search on marriages for them as it says they had been married for one year at the 1911 census.

however, I can find NO marriages for James Phillips to Annie Budd, within the 3 years preceding or after 1911.

Is this possible?

Any help much appreciated,

thanks, Joe.
