1911 census look up please

Would anyone be willing to look up for a William Fredrick Osbourne / Osborne please? He was born around 1900 - 1904 in the London area/ Essex.

It's for my friend as it's her grandfather and he just disappeared when her mum was born so she doens't have much info. Her mum was born in Birkenhead, and she doens't know whether his family moved there or just her grandfather. His full name was William Frederick Nelson Osbourne.

William Frederick's father's name was William Samuel and he was a licensed Victualler in 1924. As far as I know he always worked in a pub..

I don't know when his father was born but would take a guess at around 1875 - 1880.

I found a William Samuel b1881 in Fareham Hampshire, so it might be worth looking at him

I also found a Samuel William b 1878 Lambeth London if that's any help. I can only view the free bit.

Many thanks for any help.

Regards, Lou

have you found his actual birth cert as cant see him ?
Theres LOADS of William Osbourne/Osborne etc so it would be a mammoth task to identify the family.
Do you know his mums name or any siblings that would be on the 1911 census

Hi Shirley,

I'm afraid she doens't know his mum or dad's name or if indeed there are any siblings.

I've been looking on the 1901 census on Ancestry to see if I can narrow it down too, without much success.

All she knows was that he was supposed to have come from London. I did think with 3 christian name's I'd be able to find him easily enough, but it's proving to be a very hard task indeed.

She has his marriage certificate but the witness are not Osbourne's either. The female witness is a Florence Amy Gibson which also isn't a name connected to the bride either.

So frustrating.

Hi Everyone,

Many thanks for your replies;

On his marriage cert for Dec 1924 it states he is 22 a bachelor and a barman living in Liverpool. It also says his father's full name of William Samuel a Licensed Victualler and is deceased;

What do you think of this as a possibility;

Henry Osborne b 1842 Brundish, Suffolk; Drayman
Sarah wife b 1839 Laxfield, Suffolk
William son b 1874 Wandsworth; Drayman
George Osborn b 1880 Wandsworth son. George became a Blacksmith;
The family were living at 70 North Street Wandsworth; RG13; Piece: 483; Folio: 5; Page: 1.

Regards, LOu

Well he seems to have taken a bit of poetic license with his name as theres no births for a william frederick nelson . so wonder if the other info is correct ??

No deaths listed either !!

Shirley, I am wondering whether he made up the extra christian names. They married in Dec of 1924 his child was born in May 1925 and just 2 wks after her birth he disappeared, and nothing was ever heard from him again. His full name is on his marriage and his daughter's birth certificate's, but that doens't mean it's correct does it? The brides father was a grocer so maybe he just added the extra names to make himself sound important - or am I just catching straws???

Thanks Shirley, Jonesey and Safc for all your help. I have made a note of all the birth details you have found and will pass them onto her.

I am afraid I have to log off now and can't log on again untill tomorrow as ma in law is having an op just now and I have to get hubby and go the hospital.

But thanks so much Shirley and everyone else, you've been terrific.

Regards, Lou

My grandmother had two middle names on her marriage cert that she was not given at birth.

She had not seen a copy of her birth cert at that time and thought they were her names.

As she was the last of 16 children maybe the family had forgotten what they called her?
