step sister birth cert

hi i received my step sisters birth cert and no father shown but my neice(her daughter) has on her family tree a possible name for him? cannot ask sister or neice as no longer with us any ideas where she could have got name. thanks Gill :-)

I would think that the only way she could have got the name is if the mother told the daughter who her father was.

I have a marriage cert for my grandmother and on it she names her father but with a different surname. The vicar had crossed through it but I was able to read it. Her own birth cert has no father named, but I managed to find the family on census returns living in the same house as the man my gran named as her father.
