i have a question :)
i have a possible farther to someone on my tree, now iam thinking if i can find if there was other siblins it might prove his the dad, i know later records show mum and dad on birth records, but the older they go the less details there are
i have james sainsbury 1765 his right, and have his details
his dad is robert and the only one that can be found in wiltshire is robert sainsbury 1732 he married in 1763 making him 31, but seams abit old or possibly married before ?
his dad is named as thomas sainsbury
iam now stuck at this point has anyone got any idears or suggest records to check ect ?

The father was always named on a baptism record..........unless the child was illegitimate

How did you get back to James, if the info about his demise as a baby is accurate?

no there was 2 one died the same year as born the other is right and have all the details back down to me :)
there are 2 of us doing the tree, but he is doing the canada line of sainsburys, he found robert and mary to me it would be unlikly there where 2 robert sainsbury married to mary creating a diffrent line, my only guess is that robert wasnt origanly from wiltshire, and maybe if the details i have mary was second wife, i cant see 1st marriage at 31 ?

It may not be as unikely as you think Ann for there to be 2 Robert Sainsbury married to a Mary.
In my own family I came to a halt after I found that there was 2 families with parents James and Sarah Pimlott, same time and area so there is no way I can sort out which children belong to which family.
Also 31 for a first marriage although unusual, is not rare, my oh was 33 when he married me, and he'd not been married before, seems to be the norm for his family to marry later
