I am looking for any information for Marjorie Cresp, my Grandmother.
She was born in 1906 to James Henry Mortimer Croaker and Florence Oldfield.
She went on to marry Jacques Julien Cresp (Hotel Waiter from Nice, South of France) in 1929 and they had a daughter Therese in 1930.
On my mothers birth cert it shows they were living at 44 waltheof Gardens Tottenham London
After this the information about Marjorie seems to dry up.
There was a family tale that said Marjorie died two years after giving birth but I cant find any proof of this.
Cannot ask relatives as they have all passed away.
Any help would be wonderful.

Do you know what happened to Jacques ? there doesnt seem to be any records for him other than the marriage, Was your mum brought up in this country, Is it possible they went to France

Hi Shirley
Thanks for the reply,
I know that Jacques ended up living in Paris working on air France as a steward whilst my Mother was brought up in this country by J H M Croaker and his wife Florence.
As a boy I went out to visit the family in Nice and also stayed with my Grandfather in Paris but my Grandmother was never mentioned !!
There is a possibility they moved to france but I cannot find any records of this on ships passenger lists etc.
Any suggestions as to my next angle of attack would be appreciated.

Hi Lindsey

You didnt come across a Julien cresp and a Maria cesp on the ships manifests, they are possibly my grand uncle and aunt.
I've tried to google Ship Database but dont seem to come up with the same results as you.
How did you get there??
Thanks
Paul

The info given that Marjorie died approx two years after your mum was born could be true , She doesnt show in the UK and there's no more births either for the couple. Maybe she died in France thats why no record is showing . Cant get into FMP at the mo but will check consular deaths BUT as her hubby was French her death may have just been registered in accordance with French law

Yes sometimes you just cant find records. I am still looking for death records for some of my twigs. I have explored all possible avenues .even bought certs that turn out to be wrong ones. The frustrating thing is that the ones I am looking for were born in the 1850,s and where still alive in 1911 and then zilch. They wouldn't have gone abroad as the family's didnt travel too far from their home patch or have the money to travel.

So sometimes the records just dont show is what I have found and I am a seasoned researcher who can think outside the box !! :D

I'll just have to keep on hunting, it will make it more fulfilling when I do find the records.
Have got a good book from the library, Genealogy on line edition 8 by Elizabeth Powell Crowe.
Will plough through that for idea's
Thanks
