Sorry, I got interrupted.

Just thought I would try posting in the new stylee by telling you about a nice coincidence.

My OH's gran's grandfather (b 1830s) was a dentist in India and I discovered he had been interviewed by Kipling, when he wrote for an Indian publication. This was mentioned in a scholarly piece online.

I contacted the Kipling Society and a very nice man told me which book I would have to buy to read it.

I got the book for about £4 and was very pleased with the dentist's interview - I mean, how cool to have an ancestor written about by Kipling, right?

I flicked through a few more pages and found mention of another rellie - a then-famous actor who is OH's grandad's great-uncle!

And the same piece that mentions the actor also mentions Jenny Lind - a famous singer who was "drawn to London" by more rellies: OH's ggg-grandfather's brother & sister.

I haven't read the whole thing through yet - wonder if I'll find any more!

;-)

Ta, PP & Joy (x)

OH's family is easy really - full of notables.

Joy Report 20 May 2011 21:28

I have no notables :-)
just, recently, intriguing discoveries :-)

JenRedPurple Report 20 May 2011 22:47

ach, Joy - you know what I mean. Notable in the sense that I can google them and their homes and friends etc, and that some of them wrote memoirs blah blah.

You may recall someone found me a few 1911 records - my 4 rellies had 3-6 rooms over and above, and OH's had 32!

Upper middle class peeps can be traced easier, that's all I mean!

My working class lines are cool but harder!
