regarding that list of outstanding:

it may not be quite complete as a few pages missing would probably give the normal 99% transcribed

I do know that 1 qtr not on your list (1948 sept qtr births) had 21 pages outstanding a couple of weeks ago and even after the latest update there is still at least 1 page outstanding - I am still transcribing it !!!!

Ann, you're quite correct - I normally describe quarters with a completion of >99% (which seems to be the highest recorded %age) as "essentially complete". FreeBMD has transcribed over 200M records so far - it would obviously be foolish to expect the GRO not to have made some errors themselves in compiling that many records into 1350 quarterly indices, let alone the odd untranscribed page. I note that Ancestry didn't manage to avoid missing the odd page here and there when imaging the censuses.

To cite one example, check the 1861 census for Yealand Conyers (near Carnforth) for this person
Hannah Tomlinson abt 1790 Halton, Lancashire, England Head Yealand Conyers, Lancashire

Hannah's h/h starts on page 6 and carries over to page 7, but Ancestry missed page 7 (FMP has it) and transcribed nothing on p 7, but skips to page 8. [The full ref for the missing page is rg9/3164/101/7]

I just thought I would post it so that anyone who could not find something in a particular year which they thought complete should keep looking at intervals to see if it has appeared.

It is good to see it listed with the %ages - how did you do that?

ps - surprisingly I actually know exactly where Yealand Conyers is as I have been past it (& through it) many times!

To get the %age, I just look up the dates in my list (I look for John in Abingdon, or Bedfordshire, or unrestricted), and then C & P the header in my hit list.

I would normally give the Chapman County code for Bedfordshire (it's upper case bdf), but GR now decides I get BDF.

If you think you know when a death is likely to have taken place, it is worth checking the images for that surname in the given quarter.
I hunted for ages for a DAVIES death in Wales.... Yes I know! ...and asked for help from Bridgend office, because I knew it should be there after the birth of the last child in a census and 1911 when the child's father was shown as a widow.
In freebmd, Hannah does not show in September Quarter 1910,(99% transcibed) although her infant daughter is there. A check of the images shows Hannah also in Bridgend district.
