Hi all,

many years ago I inherited a locket from my great grandmother, the locket has in it a photo of a man, a four leaf clover and a lock of hair. I don't know how old the locket is or who the photo is of. do you think a jeweller would be able to date it for me and also i was wondering whether they may be able take it apart just in case there is something on the back of the photo.
Obviously I really dont want it to be damaged!! Has anyone else done anything like this??

Thanks

Julia (in Cambs)

What is the locket made of? If it has a hallmark, I think that should tell you the date it was made.

If you can't read it or need some help interpreting it (I think it is a letter) a jeweller should be able to do that easily.

Thanks Donna,

i think that it is probably gold plated as its not very heavy for the size of it!! I may be wrong though!! i will have a look when I get home

Thanks
