The person I'm looking for is Thelma Caroline Hughes born 4.12.1929 in Brooklyn, New York. She was last heard of living in New Jersey.

Hi Margee & Sat Nav, thank you for this. I think SatNav is right, I'm a bit vague about her date of birth, not sure where I got that date from, although I thought she was born 1928 or 1929.

In 1901, the Canadian census has dob. In 1911, it just had month & year of birth. I've seen plenty of instances where the year changed, but never the month.

On 2/4/1930, Thelma is 16 mo old, so, if I had to guess, I'ld say 4/12/1928 sounds more likely than either of the dob's given above.

By golly you're right, mgnv! She had to have been born early December 1928. You don't make a mistake on the age of your child when they're that young.

Although is that the right family, Welshbird? Father Richard B. born Wales, mother Ethel A. born British West Indies.

Father Richard Burnett Hughes was indeed born in Wales. Very interesting about Ethel being born in the British West Indies, I didn't know that.

I also think your'e right about Thelma's date of birth, I suppose it could have been a misprint on the census.
