does anyone have any information about the Mount Herman Girls Orphanage in Sevenoaks? My mum was sent there after her mum died in 1944. shortly afterwards all the children were evacuated but returned briefly after the war. the home then closed as the matron either died or retired and my mum was sent to a different home in Woodford.

I have googled the Orphanage and it looks as though it moved around different places - but I can find no info about it in Sevenoaks. I took mum back there recently but it is now a private home. any info would be gratefully received

thanks

Jo

My husbands Mum was in a children's home in Warwickshire )1942 - 1954) and we wrote to the local council.
They sent us a huge 40 page file all about her - social work reports, letters, all sorts!
You should give that a try!
