Hi - if one is looking for a death certificate for a woman, would this be catalogued/recorded under their married or maiden name (on sites such as these?). thanks

A death is registered in the current surname of the deceased . If someone was known as a different name then that would be the name they were reg in ie if someone was living with a partner and were known by that name even if they werent married. It would depend though what the informant gave as info.
Later death certs for woman do state their maiden name as well but you would need the cert to see it.

depends where

In Scotland, deaths certs for women are indexed separately under both the maiden and married surnames (and any other surnames if married more than once). Provided the informant knew all her names.

on scotlandspeople you can enter both/ any of the surnames on the death search form to refine your search, or just the one you know.
