Hi,
I am wondering if anyone has any tips on how to find criminal and/or court records. I have just discovered an ancestor of mine was placed in a girls home in 1905. She was aged 8 at the time and was found to be living in lodgings (in West Ham) that was "frequented by prostitutes for the purpose of prostitution". I don't know if any charges were laid against her mother who may have either ran the brothel or was one of the working girls. I am assuming this ancestor was placed in the school by the courts as section 14 of the Industrial Schools Act is cited on the admittance record.
I would like to look in to this further, but am not sure where to start.

Any ideas on how I should go about this?
Thank you for any help or advice you can give me.
Kazz
