My OH has been spring-cleaning my computer and now Ancestry has switched me onto New Search. I'm sure there used to be somwhere to click to revert back to old search but can I heck find it.

Can anyone point in the right direction, thanks

I usually find that if you do a search -does not matter what type - there should appear over on the right hand side "go to old search" just under the headings bar

It makes me crazy every time it happens to me. ;-)

I think you have to do a search first, in censuses, say, and then when you get the results, there's an obscure link for "old search", in the upper right, probably.

There are probably people around who remember better than I do how it goes.

Good way to find things on the boards here (much better than the internal search function) -- google:

site:www.genesreunited.co.uk ancestry "old search"

Aha, mgnv has the same results as me:

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.page/board/tips_board/thread/1252576

"The old/new switch appears at top right, just under the main menu bar.
It doesn't appear on every search screen, but if you do some rubbish search, it usually appears for you to click on. Quite what governs its appearing is a mystery to me. "

and then he says:

"Here's Ancestry's tips answer.
From the home page, select 'Search' from the main menu bar, then 'search All Records' from the drop down list.
The old style switch now appears just under the main menu bar at the far right."

Click on 'Search all records' - there is a tiny 'go to old search' link in top right corner.

Your Ancestry viewing preferences are all held in cookies on your PC.

The lesson is that if you or your oh is doing a clean-up, which is often not a bad idea, then make sure cookies for you favourite sites are not deleted.

Too true IGP. He has actually been trying to install Win 7 Service Pack 1 but has had no joy so we are giving up but in the meantime all my cookies were deleted . Never mind good to have a clear out now and then.
