Hi to all that replied to my request for some Information in connection with my G/G/Grandfather William Littlefair's resting place in County Durham areas. I will have to contact the local council & take it from there. I just want to say a big thank you for all your replies. It's nice to know there is someone there who can give me some help, when I need it. Bless you all.
Best wishes from Diane.......

Local newspapers often used to have lengthy funeral reports. You might be lucky enough to find one for your relative which would indicate where he was buried.

Libraries in the area where he died might have copies of old newspapers on microfilm.

It is quite possible that there is a family grave in the churchyard at Startforth. You would need to ask where the records are kept.

I am trying to find out where my G/G/Grandfather is buried. His name was William Littlefair, he was born in 1841 at Startforth, Barnard Castle, County Durham. He lived in & around that area all his life. He died in 1925 & on the Free/B/M/D it states he died in Aukland, County Durham, so where would he have been buried, back to Barnard Castle? I would like to go & visit his grave if I could find where he is buried. Could anyone give me any ideas please?
Diane Howells nee Littlefair.
