HI Betty,

Yes he was based at Curragh Camp at the time.
John Joseph Lewis their son died in WW1 on 17 Aug 1916 age 24
His death certificate states he was 20?? It is correct death certificate as it lists his address.
1901 & 1911 census giving his age would make him born c.1892 though.
I would have thought i would be able to find a baptism record though.

1901 cenusus John Joseph Lewis was 9 and 1911 census he was 19 so looking at year of birth as c.1892
His father John Joseph Lewis was a soldier in Satffs regiment in 1891 thats how he met Penelope Byrne she also went by the name of Penella or Ellen Byrne. She was a widow when they wed and was listed on married certificate as Penelope Jackson.
I found Nicholas Christophers baptism in 1895 born Kennys Cottage 7 Sweetmans Ave Blackrock sponsers Edward & Mary Malone.
Nicholas was named after Penelopes Father Nicholas Byrne.

Shazzlou,
i have found a birth for a John Joseph Lewis in Stafford St. Dublin born 28th Jan 1899, father down as John but Mother down as Catherine (nee) Byrne.
Do you know what the fathers Occ. was please?????.
There is a birth in Dublin 1914 of a Nicholas Christopher Lewis who may be related and that may be the reason why your N.C. was known as Christopher.
Regards,
Betty.
