The John/ Betty. you are looking at in 1851 is a Shoe Maker
I think the wrong one
The John / Elizabeth from above was an Agr. Labourer

In the 1841 Census for Walkington, Yorkshire, England,

Wmn ( William ) Risdale age 75 Agr. Labourer

Hi Brian
Not on the death.
I have looked for James and although there are entries nothing to tie him to Walkington.
There is a convict deported for 7 years and a publican in Hull named James Ridsdale. That seems to be it for James.

Just looking at Ridsdale - Walkington at the mo.

Found someone struck by lightning.....

The York Herald (York, England), Saturday, August 14, 1875
Shocking Accident through the Lightning - On Monday, evening, during a terrific thunderstorm that passed over Beverley and the neighbourhood.Mrs Ridsdale of Walkington, the wife of Robert Ridsdale and her daughter, were struck by lightning whilst standing at their own door. They were very severely burnt and injured in various parts of the body, so much so that the life of the daughter is despaired of. The house was materially damaged.

Not much else I am afraid and not very useful.

Sorry couldn't be of more help.

Ria x

Hi Brian

I can't see a birth for James Ridsdale,in the newspapers, but maybe there is a marriage or death registered?????

There is a death in this newspaper, which if these are James' parents will give you an age and date of death for Ann?????
The Hull Packet and East Riding Times (Hull, England), Friday, December 15, 1848
December 12th, at Walkington, aged 69, Ann Ridsdale, widow of William Ridsdale.

In the 1841 census in Walkington . William and Ann Risdale are the family before James Risdale age 30 and wondered if there was that family connection.

Sorry that should read William born 1766, typing error.
I have the details of James Risdale age 30 . Trying to prove if William b 1766 is the father of James.
Thanks
