This may be a silly question, but prior to 1911, did the Mothers Maiden name appear on Birth Certificates or just her married name.

Maiden name shown on cert - info is the same as after 1911, just MMN not shown on birth entry.

Cant see a West Ham Dorothy Booker on the 1911

The reason for the question is, an Uncle died 2 years ago, and the people find the next of kin have come up with a Dorethy May Booker Born 27th May 1907, and died 21st Feb 1982. I am 60 years old and have no reccolection of this Aunt, could it be a mistake ??.
My grandmother married a Thomas Booker 1906 in Holborn, in 1911 census she is alone in Beckenham Kent which the right place for the Bromley Child, but where was she all those years. Forgot to add, Grandmothers name was Alice Maidlow.

I knew that this would,nt get any easier, I wondered about the 1911 but dismissed it as a mistake as there was no Dorothy May living with her.
Thomas Booker was born 1881 in ???
Alice Maidlow was born 1887 in Kensington
Thomas Junior born 1909 & Died 1909 Holborn, according to the search people Dorothy was born 27/5/1907 barely 6 months after they were married., could they have got the DOB wrong on the death register??.

So what we have is,, Dorothy married a Arthur Cowell 1927 he dies and then she marries a Charles Hoare in 1938, indeed the plot thickens, not only that but 2 of the people on the distribution list for my uncles estate are Mr Powell,s do we think they changed thier surnames ??.

I guess that there is probably nothing else to add, Thanks to all those that gave answers and advice, you have all been a great help and I think you have answered my questions to the full, again Thank You.
