it started out as a purely innocent query about free bmd and kinda spiralled from that.

i try not to cross post as a general rule. and my cousin has already put a bit in the local paper with no results so seeing as i have access to a bigger audience and more records i said i would give it a shot.

thanks to all those who have helped

The groom in the 1969 marriage is the right age by the birth record and he is on the current electoral roll.

There is a Rose Hardy marriage to Wilson in Houghton reg dist 1929 and a birth with the name you want in 1941 in Durham N with those parent surnames ... Durham Northern covers Washington ...

... no other birth around that time to match with a marriage of a Rose to a Wilson 1927-1941 ( fortunately there is no birth to match for one of the marriages, with mother Pitt ! )

Someone born around 1940 is probably still living so it may not be wise to have these details on the net like this .......

A member of Genes Reunited has the name you are looking for in a family tree here with dob 1942, there was no birth for that name in Durham in 1942, maybe it would be worth sending that member a message ?

I would suggest a letter to the Editor of the local newspaper. There will be a good chance that some reader will be able to help. We have quite a lot of family history type queries in our local rag, and someone usually knows the answer.

Assuming that Olive Wilson was her birth name and that she was born in Co Durham c1937 there were 5 possible birth registrations in the county between 1935~1937. Unfortunately none were in Washington. Up to 1938 Washington was in the Chester Le Street registration district. In 1938 it was then transferred into the Durham Northern registration district.

If she married in Washington there appears to only one marriage of an Olive Wilson in the Durham Northern registration district 1958~2005. That took place in 1969. The groom's surname was Oughton.

ok here goes
looking for olive wilson born C1937 probably around Washington Co Durham the only other clue i have is that her mothers name was rose.

so thought with the help of free bmd i might narrow down a couple of possible births and possibly try to find her parents marriage.

she was been left as small legacy in my g autnts will and im try to help my second cousin find her
