Can you view Divorce Records?

My search goes on for my Mother-in-Law's Canadian Father who returned to Canada after WW2.

I'm not having any luck tracing him.

He was called John Paul Dube from Quebec Canada - he married Bessie Williams from Southwark in 1920.

I know they divorced between 1946 and 1968. Is there anyway to view Divorce Records? We believe Bessie traced John Paul in Canada to serve Divorce Papers and thought perhaps we would have a district/address on Divorce Paper work. :-S

Married in 1920? Was he perhaps a Canadian soldier of WW1?

Just to let people know, I was NOT the one who requested a review.

Amokavid, thanks for the reply.

So viewing a divorce is not something I can do online.

Thanks for your help.

Bessie remarried so either
she got a divorce
her first husband died
or she married bigamously

do you know what she said ? ......... the second marriage certificate would say whether she said she was a spinster or was widowed or divorced

I don't know whether Bessie is still living so I won' t put the details but do you have her marriage certificate ?

...... like Margee I did not report the thread but I don' t understand why a new one was started ........

also remember that it could be her husband who got a divorce in Canada

I wonder are you sure he was Canadian and not American ...... just because this person would fit very well ..... possibly an American from a French Canadian family

That one looks very likely, Chrissie. Jean Paul and John Paul are the same, pronounced the same and there are a lot of French Canadian families in New Hampshire, it borders on Quebec.

hopefully Zoe's MIL's birth certificate or Bessie's marriage certificate gives good details about what his military regiment was and that would settle whether it could be the one I added .... probably Zoe does know that info so Jean P Dube doesn' t fit but she can let us know :-)

oh

lucky this was a duplicate thread ?

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.page/board/genealogy_chat/thread/1269930

'am looking for John Paul Dube, 25776 Private Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps (Famer).'

so not Mr Dube from the USA

but one more reason not to have different threads about the same thing ... with different information ...

chrissiex Report 19 Jun 2011 00:19

I did a google search for 'Royal Canadian Ordnance Corp' dube

and it found this page from the Canadian Legion ( deaths of veterans )

it was a lucky coincidence I think because what Google found also had this person on the page

Sorry, Chrissie, I should have realized that he wasn't the American chappie. I took part in the previous thread! I guess I'm responding to too many threads, I can't keep track of what's been said previously.

well that's why they say no more than one post for a person :-)
