Hi, just happened to find a will on the Will and Probate Index on Ancestry, it just says date of death, who probate was granted to and how much. Please could anyone tell me where I can obtain the original will, could I order it from Ancestry, it is from Manchester.

Thanks

Marilyn

I checked with the Ancestry Will & Probate Index to try to find details of my Great Grandfather's will. He was Arthur Nicholls (I as first born have his name) and died in 1925 in Islington, London. I have assumed he died where he lived.

I could not find his details - did I not look correctly? or are his details just not there?

If I want to get a copy of his will, and his wife's, Emmeline, will (she died in London in 1914), would appreciate advice on the best way to proceed.

Thanks in advance.

Sadly this is not my Great Grandfather - unless he married for a second time.

He had no second name.

This time you are a star.

I was interested to see if she had left any money to her first born - Arthur - sadly he remained a 'black sheep'

Can I ask?
Harry Nicholls bank messenger and Maud Nicholls spinster
are these the executors or the beneficiaries?

Until I get the will I cannot answer with certainty, but I would suggest benficiaries.

The names on the probate are names of the executors not beneficiaries.
