How would I go about finding the parents of somebody (born 1923 Leeds, died in 2009)
He was adopted at birth. I have the 'new parents'names and address.

Is it possible to find his parents names?

I'm off out for now,but will look in later.

Thank you
Marion

Well official adoption didnt start ti 1927 so if he was "adopted" at birth in 1923 it was probably a private arrangement.
When an officially adopted person dies their adoption records are sealed so his couldn't be accessed now anyway

might be a good idea to look in birth records anyway, might be a family birth and handed to a sibling.

How do you know they were adopted?

There is a chance that an offical adoption took place in 1927 just to get it fully court officiated.....if so the original birth GRO register and that of the local register office birth entry will be amended ,it would be a needless search and very doubtful you will discover the birth details......unless there is any offical adoption papers,,,,,,,,,this can hold clues if you know what to look for,,,,,,,

The mother still has to register the child and then has to wait around 6 months for the adoption to be legalised in front of a judge at the family court..

I got a copy of the adoption cert first but knew all the details on it before I got it..then on her death cert was her original birth name.

Then I got a copy of her original birth cert but she was given away at 3 weeks old but not officially adopted until she was 14..

We dont know his birth name only his 'adopted' name.his 'father' and second name of his 'mother'.
I'm trying to find him for my oh cousin,
I'll email her again and see if there is any more info.
