Do yo have a local Family History Centre (run by the Mormon Church). If you do they may have computers with access to FindMyPast.

I'm in Canada and can get access to FindMyPast and Ancestry at the FHC.

Thank you Susanne, but my online contacts with the Lancashire library and the North Devon library proved to be so confusing and so complex in nature that I finally had to give up making any further inquiries with them.

But I'll try again, now that you've suggested it.

If you use Bigpond as your email address don't try and email Genes because it won't work.

Is it just me that can't access the full Findmypast service because there's no way of paying them?

My Visa card works fine here in Australia, but over there the details are being refused as 'unauthenticated'.

My bank can't understand why this is happening.
