What relation am I to this person

I wonder if someone can tell me what relation I am to my Dad's cousin's son?? Is he my 3rd cousin? or what??

Hi Jacqueline

2nd Cousin once removed,

Explanation: ( example )

Your dads.... Father has a brother.( siblings )

Your dads Father has a child......and his brother has a child ( cousins )

Your dad has you..........Your dads cousin has a child.

You and that child are 2nd cousins x1R ( by once removed )

I don't think you are once removed, just 2nd cousins. The removed bit refers to the relationship between different generations.

Put it this way. First look at people of the same generation, so:

If you share grandparents with someone you are there 1st cousin.
If you share great-grandparents you are their 2nd cousin.
.
And so on! 3rd, 4th etc.

Once this is established, you can say how you are related to their parent or child. So your 2nd cousin's father and child are both your 2nd cousins once removed.

I agree, 2nd cousins, as you're both the same generation, there's no 'remove'.

HI, MY DAD AND HIS FIRST COUSIN MARRIED SISTERS,SO I HAVE ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT MYSELF AND THE CHILDREN OF MY DADS COUSIN AND MY MUMS SISTER,WERE BOTH MY FIRST COUSINS AND MY SECOND COUSINS?AM I RIGHT? :-) :-)
