I tracked down some second cousins, wrote one a note with my email address and invited them to get in touch, which they were delighted to do.

A letter may be best with a SAE in then it is down to the person as to wether they wish to have contact or not
It gives them time to think as it will be a rather big surprise and can take people some time to think /talk over with other family and friends over..

What is the best way to make contact with long lost family (father not seen for 40 years). Should I make contact with a solicitor or are there companies out there willing to help, for a fee of course.
Father not found yet but possibly found a couple of cousins, just need to try and track down their location.
Just asking as a general question.
