yes did it before i went to work - and after i put the above post on

I put a space in between John and William - and when i didn't hey presto

Suspect it is him - which is a massive find - as will connect us with family lost for generations.... the delicate issue will be the my Mum thinks he was he Con Obj - which in itself will be interesting to discover why

I am afraid I don't understand

if you mean the search at this website

you go to 'Search Trees'

and search for John Heslop born 1911

you see a result for 'Johnwilliam Heslop' and you can contact the tree owner

Christopher

Christopher Report 8 Jul 2011 08:15

any chance you could double check that search for John William Heslop - i am unable to find (me being dim again!!!!)

chrissiex Report 8 Jul 2011 00:10

and it seems Glitter Baby posted the younger children as you were typing ...

you could have found them at freebmd as well

starting in 1911 ( when brides and grooms started to be linked by surname ) the mother's surname was included in the index, so those births are found by searching for Heslop with mother Marshall

they were twins ... did one not survive perhaps ?

try searching for deaths and marriages for their names

Just spoken to my Mum - and now thinks there was a younger child who was born 1911-1915 - and thus she now thinks (after all that) was a con obj for ww2.....

Although this doesn't list people, it has interesting info about cons. obj.
http://www.ppu.org.uk/learn/infodocs/cos/st_cos_intro.html

Also it's a good idea to check army records to see if he ever served.

It looks like she didn't have any older boys.

Christopher you need to meet freebmd

http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl

that is where the info about Wilhelmina's birth and marriage came from

practise by repeating those searches

when you find the marriage, click on the page number

there is a list of four people as is standard, 2 brides and 2 grooms

matching of brides and grooms by surname only started in 1911

before that, you need the certificate to be sure of who married whom but you can do as Glitter Baby did and test the results by looking for the grooms in the next census to see who their wives were

freebmd is the first place to look for births, marriages and deaths, free and easy to use

for births it will get you full names as mentioned and also correct years of birth ( calculations from census ages are usually inaccurate as you see with Wilhelmina )

GlitterBaby

If the right marriage and family in 1911 then her son was just old enough for WW1

Hi

Any help appreciated finding Wilhelmina Marshall b 1869 Newcastle - parents Williams and Helen (step mother was Sarah).

Specifically - i have traces in the 1871 and 1881 and 1891 census returns - but am trying to find evidence of marriage and children. She is reputed to have had boys who were jailed in WW1 as conscientious objectors (so trying to get the story there).

If you have time - and i will owe you - any evidence of a marriage of step sisters Fanny b1885 and/or Florence b1887 (Parents Williams but with Mum called Sarah). They lived together and my remembers them as old Aunts in Cullercoats. Again - i think one of them may have married but not sure

As ever many thanks - I'm still new to this and have posted a few look ups and people have been incredibly helpful.

Chris
