Royal Artillery records

Please, where could I find records for someone who was in the Royal Artillery in 1851. He was at Portsea, Hampshire.

His name is Reuben West born 1828 in Buxted, Sussex.

If his service records have survived they will be on the FindmyPast site. If not, there are other records at the National Archives which could be searched but they are not online - you'd have to go there or get someone to go for you.

Thank you Sue in Leeds and Perchino. I have found a Reuben West killed in the Crimean in 1855 who was in the Royal Artillery but have no way of knowing if it's the one I want. They have no service number for him.
Will have a look at the above sites.
