Thanks for all your input. Am considering FMP as it also has some parish records which would be of interest to me. Will give it some serious thought.

At present only Find My Past have indexed (i.e. you can search by name etc.) records for the 1911 census. FMP actually have two seperate indices. The original 1911 online site and their own. Whilst the underlying records, are identical, the two searchable indexes are completely different, both in look and feel, and in their level of accuracy. Opion suggests that the original 1911 online index is far superior.

Ancestry currently have the underlying records on line but they can only be searched by enumeration district, within town county etc. The summary pages can often pinpoint the enumeration district which allows to identify both ED and entry No:- fairly easily, especially if the name is not too common or the area you are interested in is reasonably compact.

Ancestry's search indexes should be coming onstream later this year.

they have 1911 england & wales census summary books but NOT 1911 UK census collection.

They do have the 1911 census but it is not yet indexed

Am thinking of renewing on ancestry (let it lapse for about 18 months) but would like to know if they have the full 1911 census yet.
