If it's scandal you want then my GGG grandad got two sisters pregnant six years apart and was then pusued by one of them through the courts for maintenance, all whilst married to his wife (the other woman won). It made the front page of the local rag. Bet his wife was happy... Though they did take the little girl in and she lived with them for at least thirty years!

And another GGGG grandad serially married his teenage servants, the third and last when he was in his sixties! Eww!

My great grandfather also knocked five years off his age when he married the mistress he had been living with for 25 years.

It does throw you!!! My grandmother also knocked 5 years off her age both times she married. She was always so gentle and kind - I would have never thought it of her.

Mind her father described his father as a gentleman on his marriage cert when he was actually an ag lab!

Hi there
A few months ago I sent for a marriage cert for my grand aunt, I went through the Gro and asked them to do a 3 year search for me. I gave them a number of checking points, her birth year ,fathers name and employment and asked them to pay particular attention to her fathers employment as the marriage was out of her birth area fathers employ was a local trade he was a Potter Figure Maker and I didn't think there would be many of them in Nottinghamshire. Well waited the 3 weeks and the cert came however her age was 5 years to young and fathers employment was an Architect. So rang them and they agreed the checking points hadn't been taken notice of,so refunded the money. Any way in the last couple of weeks through a contact on hear I find out it was the right cert, she had knocked 5 years off her age and upgraded her dads job, Can you believe that and she was a CAPTAIN in the Salvation army as well. You do get some surprises with this hobby. lol :-0
