Thank you Gwyn. I just wanted to make sure as this lady was my mums half sister and she had no other relatives except my mum but she chose not to be found. Thanks again for replying.

I think the Will only goes to Probate if the value is over a certain amount.
Under that amount and a written Will may not show up in searches.

I am happy to be corrected on this though, as I'm not sure.

Heir Hunters programme highlights cases where they've searched for beneficiaries, but if no entitled blood relatives are found, then Yes the money goes to the Government after 30 years.

Is it right that the treasury will take all monies from an estate if there is no will and no one has come forward to make a claim on the estate after 30 years. I have just found an aunt who died in 1966 and wondered if it was worth writing to the treasury. I have checked and she did not make a will. If anyone knows the answer I would be most grateful.
