Ive found her- thankyou so much for the advice on electoral rolls. I went to the library and found out her mums surname from the records, went on to find her marriage and her current address.

Many thanks for all your help!

mgnv- thankyou! i will ring the library and check!
She was definately still at that adress in the early 80's.
As a long shot ive written to the primary school we went to with her year of birth, first name and address and asked if they have any old school registers which would show her surname.
I know there may be a data protection issue though even if they do have them.
Thanks for the advice people.
I have some old photographs id love to pass on.

You can look up the electoral roll by address. The main library serving that address probably has a copy of the electoral roll for that era.

It's not possible to search by address - you have to have a surname.

Have you tried Friends Reunited? Possible to search for people registered under streets, schools, workplaces as well as names. If not able to find her, you might l;ocate a neighbour who can help (I speak from experience!).

I am trying to locate a childhood friend. I dont recall her surname but i recall her address.
Do the phone book records on ancestry allow you to search by address or do you need a surname?
All i have to go on is her adress and her mothers first name.
I was hoping if i could search vis adress in the phone book i would find out her surname and then be able to look for marriages etc and track her down.
Any advice please guys and girls?

Thanks
Nicola
