I need to know the mother of Leonard Pickstone (1891 Radcliffe, Lancs.) In 1911 shows him living with Sarah Pickstone, who I thought was the mother of my grandfather Squire Pickstone also born 1891 Radcliffe. Please could you help?

Thanks Pam, So who was the mother of my grandfather Squire Pickstone. Could it be that Leonard & Squire were brothers, or is my info. wrong. I have parents of Squire as James Pickstone & Sarah Booth. Another GR member has James & Sarah as Leonards parents - no mention of Squire!!

According to the 1901 census your Squire was the son of Sarah E. who was unmarried. She, in turn was the daughter of Jane, a widow.

Sarah E in the 1911 was born in 1862

Sarah E in the 1901 was born in 1871


I think they are two different families.

Have you not bought Squire's birth certificate?

I don't think Squire has been transcribed yet.

I don't think you can assume that Squire was Sarah's son - he is Jane's grandson but could be the son of one of her other children. The only way to find out for sure is to buy his birth cert.

Leonard's mother was shown on his Army record on Ancestry as
Sarah Ellen PICKSTONE
22a Park Lane, Whitefield.

Squire's record is there too, but next of kin is his wife.
His children and their dates of birth are listed there.

As I see it there's such a simple solution to this problem. Get Squire's birth certificate!
