There are 10 children of Henry & Mary christened in Newchurch between 1807-1830.
Do you want them?

No official certificates of any sort available prior to the end of 1837

I've seen a few Kent records where the maternal grandfather's name is given - but it doesn't seem that common.

The incumbent at Moreton in Essex around 1800 must have come from Yorkshire as he recorded all thos details. Some parts of the entries are a bit hard to read but fortunately he wrote the whole lot out for each child in the same family.

As Jill said its all fun stuff and really the luck of the draw.
I too have some christenings records were in one particular church the vicar always recorded the actual birth date in the margin by the side of the record , An absolute bonus as sometimes families did a bulk christening with the children being all ages from babies to youngsters

As Shirley says it varies.

I've come across some baptisms for the 1700s which included mum's maiden name and where mum and dad married. I've come across others which give hardly any info at all.

They standardised the baptism parish records in about 1806-1809 (can't remember the year) which meant that from then on only the fairly basic details are shown. Some vicars included a date of birth in the margin but not all. Pre 1806ish it was down to the individual vicar which is where the variation comes in.

All fun stuff!

Parish records for marriages dont show fathers names.ALTHOUGH some coming up to 1837 sometimes do its depends or how zealous the vicar was with his recording. I have two parish record marriages in the mid 1830,s just before 1837 where dads name is shown, maybe the vicar was aware he had to record it when the official registration started

Christening records dont show mums maiden name

The GRO dont hold Christening records ,they are held by the Church and should be at the local Records office if the Church has passed on their parish records to them.

If you cant find a GRO reg for a marriage then its likely the couple may have not been married , The GRO can only find actual marriage cert records

Just to add to that you will need to provide sufficient information to allow the GRO to identify the correct one.

If you don't have the exact date enter 01/01/yyyy and the GRO will search for the other info you have provided (i.e. Full name, parents names, spouse name, location etc) for that year and one either side. Only enter information you are pretty certain about.

morning everyone:)
if you cant get a copy of a birth cert, because there is no page or vol number with the record, can you get a copy of the christening? also, if there is no page or vol number with a marriage record, is it possible to still get a copy?
kind regards
