reasearching tried putting in names don'twork

how do you put the names that you are researching at the bottom of your threads thankyou I have tried this but it will not work for me

Its via the 'My Account' tab at the top of the screen. There is a box 'research names and places'

I couldnt do this either, just got "an error has occurred" whenever I tried to save it, so contacted Genes, this is the reply I got:


"I'm afraid that this is due to the special characters that you have on your site name - we're unable to save this unless we remove these from your name."

I have had to take my characters off, have no problem now.

Stirrup, Williams, Winter, Newton, Johnson, Barrett, Bruce, Bruen, Hartley, Proffit, Rogers, all in Manchester and loads of other names and places

I have tried before, but i just get "error invalid board name" i assume its because i have spaces.

Not changing mine though.

Yes, you've cracked it....!

All you need to do now is to put "Sorted...!" in you message heading.

For those who are not aware, GR removed the ability to put certain characters in Board Names some time ago because certain ones were causing big problems with pages not displaying properly and all sorts of other weird effects. However, if your name includes any of the banned characters, you will only become aware when you try to update any of your account details and they fail to validate.
