Chris,

Not quite sure what you mean by library archives. Whilst some regional archives are housed in a towns library building, archives offices are usually a separate entity altogether.

I don't know whether it will help or not but below is a link to a tip that I posted a long time ago which deals with visiting archive offices. It is by no means definitive and I am sure that others may be able to offer you complimentary advice but good luck any way.

If you are lucky, the archivist will be used to dealing with enquiries of a similar nature and will be helpful. Try to have a good idea of the sort of thing you're looking for, and have a list of names and dates handy - the more information you can give them, the more likely they will be able to help. You may have to pay a fee if they have to spend time looking out items, but they should let you know this in advance, so you can decide whether or not to go ahead. If they have a website you should look around it to see what services they offer. Happy hunting!

Hi, why not try putting your mum's details or any other names you know of from your family into the Search Trees box above? This will show you if anyone else on this site has your family in their tree.

If you find a connection, you can contact the tree owners and, maybe, they will have some photos to share.

Regards. Cx
