Is it just that the area fell somewhere else at the time? I would have thought the electoral regiaters should be somewhere. Have you tried googling something like 'family history archives ...' and the place you are looking for?

They would be at the local Main library or Records Office then , They're not available online

Hi just found this

https://wiki.familysearch.org/en/Electoral_Rolls_or_Registers_in_England

so it looks as though electoral rolls were taken in 1939 and also 1945 but not the years in between!

Hi,
Thanks for your replies, i thought there was one in 1945 (I know that there wasnt 39-44).
I thought that some people had access to these- I will try the library.

Thanks

Julia, are you aware that there were no electoral registers during WW2? I guess 1946 would be close enough though!
Also, electoral registers have to be accessed in person, normally at the nearest main library for the area, or you have to request this from the staff there, for which they may charge.

Doubt there was one Julia as they didnt do electoral rolls during the war years of WW2 ie 1939-1945. Would guess the earliest one was 1946 may even not have been taken til 1947.

The local Main Library or Records office for the area should be able to tell you more
