Thank you Gwyn...

Fingers crossed

I'm so excited, just had to add this....

After sending 18 letters to BC, Canada.....

Today, I have had a lovely e-mail, from a chap who is my second cousin ( I think )....He is very pleased and excited to hear from me ( yipee ) although, I believe, quite taken by suprise..as he knew nothing about " us " over here

By coincidence, he and his wife are making a trip to England next Spring and has suggested we meet.....he also wants my number ( has given me his ) to talk over the phone before then....

At last maybe I can find out about my GGrandmother and her "other" family

Thank you so much to everone who has had imput and helped me get to this point....I cant begin to tell you how much it means, to at long last be able to find out about my family.

mgnv and Sylvia, thank you for the info

I did have contact with a lady (related by marriage ), both by phone and e-mail, back in 2009.

She was very excited to tell the family all about my quest and find more info for me ( her hubby had done a tree before he died ) but then all went quiet, I didnt hear from her again untill I sent an e-mail in May 2010.....

I did get a lovely reply telling me her daughter was very poorly and she had been out of town for long periods of time, also understandably, had let anything genealogy go.....so of course, I hesitate in contacting her again.

I shall send off the letters I have written (18 in total)...see what results from them, other than that a trip to Canada might be the only way forward, as I am unable to let this rest....

just a slight correction

we're actually almost a month longer than UK at both beginning and end of summertime!

we actually now have summertime for approximately 8 months of the year ....... courtesy of "dubya"!

Misty - just in case you ever decide to phone someone here, the UK is mostly 8 hrs ahead of us. I say mostly as we're on summer time a bit longer - something like a couple of weeks at end, or beginning, or both - I get it muddled. Also, the extreme SE of the province (around Cranbrook, Golden) is on Mountain time, rather than Pacific, so the UK is only 7 hrs ahead of them.

Re postal codes - you should see this if you click on the name I think?

Have you tried Facebook? Women will generally use their maiden name. Or to see if anyone on Ancestry shares common ancestors?

Ok all I can think to do and have done....is write to every houshold, with the same name, in the area

The only problem I have....I cannot get any postal codes from white pages, am I missing something?

Thank you, I have looked on bcarchives, no luck there.

Hi Liz....Thank you

I have looked on here...no luck, also white pages, I would guess they are listed under hubby's name

Do you know if electoral rolls are available to veiw in Canada?

Maybe what I need is to buy marriage certs, for both, if thats poss although I dont know when they married, I could make a rough guess from ages

I would love to make contact with family in Canada.....they will have info about my Great Grandmother, who I know very little about.

All I know are their names ( both married and maiden ) do not know husbands names...

Any suggestions would be most welcome and appreciated
