GR have said on their Facebook page

"We take all survey results with a pinch of salt"

So therefore taking the survey is a waste of time

Margee, having not done the survey i don't no if it was done by a (professional company) or not, but all companies have to make money even (Mickey Mouse) companies,

And that's why they have surveys (To find out what they can sell you) and not because they are interested in you or your views

I can't believe the survey was done by a professional company, it was too "Mickey Mouse". When it asked which part of the UK you live in I clicked on "Other". It said please specify but there was no place to do so. Some of the questions needed anothe option "None of the above" I couldn't answer that one so left it blank.

Is it true that the same surevey was on Facebook? If so, how ridiculous is that? Having a survey on a social networking site asking if you use a social networking site! Duh!

I don't do any type of survey,

These surveys are done by companies that have to make money and every survey is about finding ways to make more money from people.

I just wish my OH would listen, may be we would not get so much junk mail and phone calls not to mention spam emails

I have just done the survey and told them I don't use Twitter, Facebook etc.

Margee, the residence question asks which part of the UK you live in.

Kath, they want to know why you use the Genes Boards, which is probably why they have left out the research option.

It's a pity there isn't a comments box so that we could say why we don't like Facebook etc.

I did the survey and I'm in Canada. I didn't see anything to say that it's only for residents in UK. Did I just miss it?
Just went back to check and the survey is finished.

Done it but GR will probably take no notice of the answers anyway

MargaretM Report 1 Sep 2011 17:49

So have you done the survey, Gwyn, to let them know that you don't use Facebook or Twitter? The more of us the better!

There is a notice on General Chat .... now on page 3, so I don't know how many will see it there.
I don't use Facebook or Twitter either and it annoys me somewhat when they make announcements on those sites before these boards.

That's what I said Margee - that I didn't want to use other social networking sites. I too was surprised that "family research" wasn't one of the options given for using Genes.

I completed it too. I recommend that those of us who don't use Facebook do the survey and let them know.

Me too Dizzi.
Bit surprised that the section asking why we use Genes never mentioned using it for family history research.
