Hi All,

Been trying to find my 3 x great grandfather's burial place. Tried the most logical place, a local cemetery and adjacent churchyard-nope, got burial records from both not on either. He's not buried with his wife or any of his children. Extremely doubtful that he is buried with his parents. Checked the records from where he was born, not there. Tried all the other local churches all with no luck.Tried various online sources too.

He died in April 1856 in Reigate/Redhill area in Surrey and his name was Simeon Shaw.

Can anyone recommend where I go to next or perhaps a website that I might not have visited?

Thanks....I've only been trying to find out for the last four years!

Lin :-D

Hi Joy,

Thanks for your reply

I've tried that, they sent me a massive long print out of all Shaws buried in their cemeteries/churchyards. He wasn't there :-(

IS HE IN A PAUPER GRAVE,
WHAT DID HE DIE OF,
WAS HE CREMATE

He won't have been cremated in 1856 as cremation wasn't introduced until the 1870's/80s.

Have you seen this link ?

Thanks for your replies.

He wasn't a pauper, he was quite well off.
Cremation not relevant.
Cynthia, I'm with you now.....you meant this thread! doh, ignore my last message.

I am responsible for that page being uploaded, a lot of that info I supplied. It doesn't give details of Simeon's death though....

That link was really good Lin - you've worked hard on that - very interesting. Strange how there is no record of his burial though I agree.
