Thanks very much to all for the input ... I will definitely order the 1919 death cert for Robert C. Blackman.
That IS the Gravesend 1911 census entry for the family, Maddie ... I have always been perplexed as to why, with Lizzie living in the home of her father, her children are shown as nephews and nieces to what is, without doubt, their grandfather, not uncle. The "Millin" listed is in fact William.

It may be worth looking at the Commonwealth War Graves site for William b. 1898 to see if he was killed in WW1.

Oops - correction - Robert Charles Reynolds Blackman was last seen in the 1911 census :-S

Hi - anyone know how to pin-point an address when searching the 1901 census?

My grandfather's elder half-brother William Frederick Davis Denton's birth cert shows he was born at 11 Grove Road, Plumstead, Kent on 18th Jan 1898 - reg'd by father William Denton, same address; mother Lizzie Denton formerly Mowle (her full name was Lizzie Emmeline Mowle).

However, Wm Jr. was next found as William Davis on the 1901 census in Gravesend, Kent, with mum shown as "Elizabeth Davis" and "widow" ... but there is no proof she ever married a William Denton (OR Davis!) ... marrying my g-grandfather Robert James Reeves Blackman in Dec 1901 as Lizzie Mowle, SPINSTER! William is shown in the 1911 as William Blackman and this is the last I can find of him.

Mum always thought my grandad Harry Blackman's 'oldest' brother was John "Jack" Owen Laws Blackman, b. 1904, but there was actually ANOTHER older brother, Robert Charles Reynolds Blackman, b. 1903 - he also is last seen in the 1901 census.

So - 2 mysterious great uncles to find out about! Am hoping that being able to look at who was living at 11 Grove Road, Plumstead in 1901 will give me at least one clue (I'm a member of Ancestry, so can access the census thru there) ... but how do I find that address??!
