Ive been searching my family tree for a little while now and have had some luck and some big headaches.

With out having access to the 2021 census im having problems tracing my family back.

Does anyone know how i can find out who lived in a house in the 1911 census?

The house is 2 Moresk Road ,Truro, Cornwall.

I'd be sooooo happy with any ideas/help.

Many thanks

Can't you find the birth cert of your ancestor?

Hi

Im looking for a Samuel Allen. I believe he was born in cornwall. but i havent got a year of birth so i am faced with many choices.

Im aware that in 1942 he was living at 2 moresk road, truro, cornwall
as this is the address stated on my nans wedding cert.

It was a long shot but i was hoping he was living there in 1911

Did Samuel marry your nan? Do you have their marriage certificate? How old does it say he is?

Have you tried looking at the electoral register? None kept during the war but you should find it either side. It will tell you who was there a bit nearer the date. Obviously only people over 21 are shown.

I sent for my nans wedding cert. so have their details.

its lists her dad as samuel allen.

and her farther in law as alfred rowe.

but i dont have any d.o.b and allen and rowe in cornwall is a very popular name.

i will have a look and see if the electoral reg holds any clues.

many thanks

I think your next step is your nan's birth certificate ... That will give both parents and probably an (another?) address.

When you're a bit further back Shaun - into the censuses etc, it does become a bit easier, and if the names are not too common you may be able to take a few shortcuts then ... but if you want to be really sure you are following the right family you do need proof - and it does not come cheap!

Good luck with it

ive followed my mums side of the family back lovely and been able to extend it well. just my dads side is being a total pain.

even finding a birth cert to send for is gona be fun. too many people with the same name lol.

ive had great fun working on it all so far, just need a break through to get the ball rolling.

If you know (or can find out) your nan's birthday - that would help narrow it down a bit ...
