Ive managed to trace my ancestors back but got stuck on George Blades born circa 1836 in old leake, he later married Maria ledger (born in swineshead) her history was easy to trace but his is a bit of a mystery!!!! by the way they married in sheffield, im assuming they moved here for work. any help would be much appreciated. :-)

many thanks to all the replies, seems like they moved around a bit, im thinking of heading down to the area one weekend and having a look round the cemetries, the villages do not look too big so finding some relatives should not be too hard!!! thanks again :-D

Hi Michael, and welcome the boards

Although you hopefully will find some headstones for your families, please bear in mind that not everyone could afford them. You may also find that stones have been removed ('elf n safety) to one side, or even the grave plot re-used and any memorial discarded.

But nothing eventured, nothing gained and at least you could 'walk in their footsteps'.

Thanks for that and yeah I discovered that the other day, Ive got burial details for various family members in sheffield, yet alas the graves were unmarked, impossible to tell where the graves was in a few instances!!! still its nice to stand there knowing your ancestors must have walked through the same cemetery gates and even possibly stood in the church.
