james rumbold 1831 kings somborne,hampshire

hello im trying to locate James Rumbold on the census's born c1831 kings somborne, hampshire. Parents George Rumbold and Elizabeth Anthony. Ive found him on the 1841 census at home then he goes missing!! I've found a James on the 1861census which looks like it could be him, where he is an inmate at chatham barracks and is a private in the army. then after that he goes missing again. can anyone help?? also if anyone has access to war records that would be helpful??
any info would be appriecated.

Do you know that he survived beyond 1861?
Have you checked for a death?

He was actually born around 1826 ...... his baptism from beta.familysearch

so that 1861 census reference is probably him




He might have joined the army before 1851, and could well have been overseas, or in Ireland at the time fo the census.
