What year were they born as that may have some impact on the answer?

if you know their dob ie can remember the event rather than what they recall, that ought to satisfy the system.

To get the official answer, you could call the Certificate Services Call Centre on 0845 603 7788 and order at the same time.

EDIT - check the >>>>image<<<< on Ancestry, just to be sure there hasn't been a transcription error.

It depends on how old they are, their is a 50 year rule on birth certs so you would need more info than just the gro info if the birth is less than the 50 years,

if it's a Close Rellie as you say then why don't you ask them direct?

Can you wait until after their birthday next year ? :-D

If you don't mind possibly wasting £9.25, it might be worth putting in an order anyway, and hope that the dob as per the entry is the one you know.

The Blogs/Blogs might have been a transcription error at source, or the mother really was mn Blogs!!!!

The alternative is that Jimbob Blog's mother wasn't married when his birth was registered.

If it is listed as

jimbob blogs born ????
mother blogs

this would suggest the parents where not married at the time of the childs birth

have you found a marriage for the parents?
