Garth,

Do you mean between 1830/50 that he came to UK. If so you may track him on a census where he may give the area in Germany in which he was born.

Garth,

There is an Anglo-German family history society you could apply to, and of course there is Cyndi's List.

The Anglo German Family History society i found weren't very helpful when I asked for help for my paternal German family. They wanted you to join up .
My grandfathers family came over in the mid 1880,s and didnt take naturalization.

I was told at Kew that no shipping manifests have been kept as it was cross channel and people came across as foot passengers.
German BMDS .if they survived WW2, are kept in the area that the family came from so to find them you would need to know where.

Was also told that although some census has the parties as British subjects this wasnt always the case.

Try the National Archives site to see if there are any papers for them

Hello Garth,

There is always the possibility that someone else on this site may have him in their tree and be able to help you.

Have you tried putting his name into the Search Tree box above? If you find a connection, you can contact the tree owner. Cx.
