please can any body help me im trying to trace my mums family she was known as susan reilly(nee dixon ) who lived in ashton under lyne i know she had a brother john and ive been told there is a sister out their some where i think called christine ? who used to live in rochdale . as far as i know they were from altricham mum used to (i think ) know some people as linda and eric who had a sausage dog if that helps ? sadly mum and john have passed due to illness if you do have any info please help as these walls are getting bigger by the day :-S

Do you have any dates (years) so that perhaps we can check to see if your mum had siblings or cousins!

Or do you know the names of your grandparents on your mothers side?

So your mother married Mr Reilly after your father? only marriage I can see is in Oldham in 1988 but the name is not Susan?

So maybe not ? or did she marry inbetween?

I have managed to find your birth, your mum's marriage to your dad and your dad's birth.

I'm just off to see if I can find anything else and will PM you as some people mentioned may still be living and its inappropriate to post on these boards.

I found those lynne, but I thought Stuart was looking for his mums siblings and any other family??

Did you also advise stuart to return to his thread as it is his first posting he may not realise he has had any replies

Yes, I have advised Stuart to come back to the thread. What I was trying to establish was Stuarts surname and therefore his Mum's last surname, and then try to work backwards.

I've just read through this and find it a bit sad. Everyone is new to family history at one point and it is a very mysterious world and not an easy one to get into the flow of. I have been helped tremendously on here (some are even in this thread) and I don't know where I'd be without this help.
We all make mistakes, and I feel people shouldn't be put off from finding help, there is always a tactful way to point people in the right direction.
I am always sure to thank members profusely for the aid, without it I would still be a square one.

Stuart has replied to my messages, however not much closer than what is already shown above.

Stuarts mother was born as Susan Dixon in 1955
Susan Dixon marries in 1972 and Stuart is born in 1977
Susan then remarries, and I believe its the marriage that you found for Mr Reilly in 1988.
Susan Reilly dies in 2004
Susan did use another name, on some records it is shown:

Had a nice pm from Stuart and I too have confirmed your findings Lynne about Christina

When stuart gets his mums marriage cert then perhaps we will be able to follow it further with the correct father? until then we wont know whether we are on the right track or not, but the death in 2004 does tie in with the birth in 1955
