There are 3 possibilities:

1 they married abroad
2 her name is mistranscribed
3 they never married and she just adopted his surname and when she died she was registered with his surname as no one was any the wiser.

there seems to be quite a lot of scandal in my family history !!!!!!!
I'm also thinking that perhaps they just called themselves married and I dont know if there were any children, havnt got that far yet, only found out this morning that he had supposidly remarried. What other skeletons will i find !!!! didnt realise when I started my family history that it would get this interesting ( and time comsuming).lol.

if he did a disappearing act then maybe there was no divorce so he couldn't remarry in the UK , maybe he married in Turkey in Androniki.s religion and this wouldn't be recorded in Consular records

Would seem they married abroard . they arent listed in Consular records though

Oh I do love a bit of scandal in the family history!!

It's very likely that he never married Androniki at all ... Did they have any children do you know?

Shirley, Yes, asked if anyone could find any info on her.
Have since got her death cert (as advised) and it seems she was married to my grandfather.!!!!!!
Jill, His 1st wife (my granny) died in 1953, in Essex but they hadnt been together since 1913/14 and nobody knew what had happened to grandad.he was in the army stationed in malta in 1913 with my granny and mum, granny and mum came home to England about 1913/14.nothing else was heard of grandad and he was never spoken about !!!!

If he remarried before 1911 have you found him on that census?

Hi all you lovely peeps,
I am wondering if any of you out there can help me please.
I have just found out that my grandfather remarried!!!! but I cannot find his 2nd marriage anywhere.
His name was Archibald Arthur b 1881, Portsea.. Hants
his 2nd wife was Androniki Godiades b1898,Istanbul, Turkey.
