missing on on the 1891 census

I wonder why a family should be missing on a census??

This does happen from time to time, possibly there were away travelling and just got missed! Or hiding from the rent man?? But they might simply be mis-transcribed and you are having trouble finding them.
If you haven't got them on an an existing thread, just put details onto here and we'll have a look. It works best if you paste a census onto here where you do have them.

well the obvious thing is a Mistranscription so you have to use wild cards and think outside the box.

But like many on here I have lots of 'disappearing' ancestors who I have never found despite years of searching and knowing they were alive at the time of the census

Jan is right. My grandfather is missing from the 1911, probably out poaching that night knowing him!

This is the Ancestry entry!! Tip - always try a first name/birth year/location search if people are missing, then look down the list of results for possible mis-transcriptions.
