Wayne, I suggest you put their details so folks can look for themselves, might make it easier.

EDIT Having had a general look it seems to me it is just a parish, but it would help to check the census for the actual people you are referring to.

Hi all.. I'm looking at some individuals in the 1851 & '61 Scotland census.. in Anc.. .. Under Residence it says that these individuals were at the Paisley High Church of Paisley Abbey, Renfrewshire.. does that infer they were employed by the Abbey, resident at same or, is it simply a locality reference i.e. they lived in the area of the Abbey.. Appreciate all advices. Wayne
