I have just started to create our family tree and am now addicted!!

I have had quite a good start with one side of the family, due to the name being unusual, but unfortunately have come to a brick wall with trying to find my Grandmothers side of the family.

I have her actual date of birth, but am unsure as to what part of the Country she was born - on checking the births, there are quite a few it could be as they don't state the actual day just the Quarter the birth falls into.

Have you got her marriage cert? You might find you need her father's name.

You should be able to find her on later census . do you have her marriage cert which will show her dads name. Usually if you know the area she married then you should be able to find her on the census.

Sorry, Harvey is in fact her Maiden name I found this out from the Marriage Records.
I know she was married in Jul/Aug/Sept 1914 in Aston, Birmingham , she married Horace Margerrison - I have tried looking in the Census just before then, but can't locate the family name in this area????

Anything else I can do?

I see that in 1911 Horace was living in Wiltshire so that might provide a clue to Alice Maud's origin.

She was indeed married to Horace Ernest W Margerrison - this was her only marriage and she died in 1977. They lived all their lives in Birmingham, but her origin remains a mystery.

I must admit the Bristol birth listing did seem quite relevant when I looked at it, but how can I be sure that this is the correct person?

The father of the one born in Bristol was named George James Harvey born 1864. In 1911 he was living on Private means.

The father of the one born in Bedminster was named John Edwin Harvey born 1864. In 1911 he was a foreman in the oil cake mills.

As previously stated by others if you acquire Alice Maud's 1914 marriage certificate then hopefully it will show her fathers details against which you can compare the above to see if that helps confirm her birthplace.
